Northern Ireland

A UKA-qualified running coach in Northern Ireland — face-to-face or online.

I'm Nick Weston, a UKA-qualified running coach based in Newtownabbey. I coach runners across Northern Ireland — Belfast, Lisburn, Bangor, Newry, Derry, the Mournes and the Causeway Coast — in person or online.

The problem

Why most plans fail.

There's no shortage of generic plans online. What runners in NI often can't find is a local coach who'll actually meet them at the Mary Peters Track or on the Cave Hill, watch them run, and adjust the plan around Northern Irish weather, terrain and race calendars.

Who this is for

  • ·You live in NI and want a real coach you can meet.
  • ·You want occasional gait analysis or form work in person.
  • ·You want a coach who knows Belfast City Marathon, the Mourne Way and the local parkrun circuit.
  • ·You train on the Comber Greenway, Cave Hill or the Mournes and want that used properly.
  • ·You want online structure with the option of face-to-face sessions.

FAQ

Common questions.

Where in Northern Ireland are you based?
I'm based in Newtownabbey, just north of Belfast, and travel to coach runners across the province. Face-to-face sessions are usually arranged somewhere convenient for you — the Mary Peters Track, Victoria Park, Ormeau Park, Cave Hill or the Mourne Mountains for hill and trail work.
Can I mix face-to-face and online coaching?
Yes. Many local runners do their full programme online and add occasional face-to-face sessions for form work or tough quality sessions.
Do you coach groups?
Yes — small group coaching, club sessions and informal group runs can all be arranged on request.
Which Northern Ireland races do you coach runners for?
Most local runners I coach are aiming at the Belfast City Marathon and half, the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Half, Larne Half, Portadown Half, the Omagh Half, Mourne Way and Causeway Coast trail and ultra races, and the parkrun circuit in between.
What are your coaching qualifications?
I'm a UKA-qualified Run Fitness Leader and a competitive marathon and ultra runner myself, so the coaching comes from both formal training and years of racing on Northern Irish roads and trails.
