“Taking Nick on as a coach was the best fitness decision I made in 2025. He's planned around children, work and illness — and helped me take a good chunk off my Half PB.”

What runners say

In their words.

Nick's marathon plan is amazing — you won't find a plan with so much detail and support to get you through. He's really thought of everything to answer the questions you'll definitely have in your training. Going from an occasional runner to completing my first marathon is something I'll never forget, and I couldn't have done it without this plan. He supports you the whole way through and never makes you feel like you can't do it. Can't recommend enough.

Jennifer

Occasional runner to first marathon · Belfast 2025

I started working with Nick in 2024 when I decided to try to run my first marathon — something I thought I would never be able to do. With Nick's training and support I got it done. We followed that up with another marathon in 2025 and I've just completed my first triathlon under Nick's guidance. His plans are fully tailored to the individual athlete. He's also an actual person at the end of the phone — and he understands the strains work and family life put on a training block.

Mark

Two marathons + first triathlon · Beyond The Wall 1:30

Nick has provided the guidance, structure and support I needed every step of the way. What sets Nick apart is that his support goes beyond just the training schedule — he's also provided invaluable advice on race fuelling and nutrition, which has made a huge difference to both my training and race-day performance.

Philip F

Norn Iron 100 · 29:18 · 1.5 hrs off ultra PB

Nick formed a plan solely for me — such variety, no run was the same. Four weeks before the marathon I found out I was pregnant. We tweaked the goal and I crossed the line safely in 4:17. Nine months later Nick built a postpartum plan — thoughtfully structured to rebuild confidence, strength and endurance. Five months postpartum I crossed in 4:27.

Marathon while pregnant + postpartum return

Taking Nick on as a coach was the best fitness decision I made in 2025. I'm leaner, fitter and loving my running more than ever. He's planned around children, work and illness — and helped me take a good chunk off my Half PB. I only intended 16 weeks; we're in month 7 with no plans to stop.

Rebecca Gardiner

Half marathon PB · month 7 and counting

I cannot speak highly enough of Nick. His bespoke programmes helped me break 3:30 and 3:15 for the marathon. Aside from the training, he offers key advice on race fuelling and practical points to avoid issues on race day. A gentleman and an excellent running coach.

John Lawlor

Sub-3:30 then sub-3:15 marathon

Since starting with Nick at the end of 2024, my fitness, speed and endurance have all improved and I've had multiple PBs across every distance from 10km to ultra marathon. I'm fitter and stronger at 48 and still finding my potential. If you're serious about improving, don't go anywhere else.

Dominic Roncaglione

Multiple PBs · 10km to ultra

I've been working with Nick for over 6 months and the improvement has been incredible. Before, I was using popular training apps, but Nick's personalised plans have pushed me in the best way. He's currently coaching me for my first ultra and the support has been amazing.

Lee Gibson

Training for first ultra

Nick wrote me a marathon plan that has been brilliant. The most I'd run was a 10k — I've now completed 20 miles and with my marathon just over 2 weeks away I'm feeling very confident. Advice, tips and encouragement throughout. Highly recommend.

Michaela Rodgers

10k to first marathon

Before working with Nick my running had become stale and I was losing motivation. Nick has completely rejuvenated my training. My endurance has significantly improved and the excitement is back. Plans are varied, engaging and tailored to my individual needs.

Andrew S

Rejuvenated training

Nick has worked with me from zero running to completing a leg of the Belfast Marathon. Always helpful with any question I had — weekly programmes and progress always suit me. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Common questions.

Do I need to be experienced to be coached?
No. RNNNG coaches runners of all abilities — from people lacing up for their first Parkrun through to experienced marathon and ultra runners chasing PBs.
How does the coaching actually work day-to-day?
You get a personalised plan delivered through the RNNNG athlete app. I review your training week-to-week and adjust based on how you're feeling, what your watch shows and what's going on in your life.
What if life gets in the way of training?
That's exactly what coaching is for. Plans flex when work, family, illness, injury or fatigue do — that flexibility is the difference between a plan you stick to and one you abandon.
Where are you based and can you coach me if I don't live nearby?
I'm based in Northern Ireland and coach runners online across the UK, Ireland and worldwide. Face-to-face sessions are available locally in NI.
